One Year

Camila is a year old this weekend.

Wow! What a difference a year makes!!

First of all, a year ago I looked like this: round, round, round!

Then this: happy, happy, happy!

Camila has gone from this: barely moving...

to this: barely standing still...

Some highlights from her first year

in May at 4 months old, starting to play together.

Napping together in June. (I love this picture!)

In July she learned to sit up unsupported and got to enjoy things like playing in the sand box, swings, two-handed toys! woo-hoo!! And by the time we went to Cranberry Lake she was able to crawl and play in the sand, but still spent lots of time in the Bjorn and being carried. She was sporting a funny scrunch-face-snorty-grin that cracked us all up!

by September, & about 7 months she was scooting around, enjoying her new skills and bursting with personality, and hasn't stopped blossoming!

She's playful, cheerful, clever, affectionate and expressive. She is currently working hard on learning to talk. She has some sign language and that helps immensely, but she's trying very hard to make spoken words, too. A big learning process with lots of reward!

We wish you could be here to celebrate the completion of her first year, but I am grateful that you visit us here and have watched her grow!

ps/ some cute stuff from Liv at this age: here.

Trikes

The weather has warmed a bit. Its been about 60 these past few days. We've taken the opportunity to play outside! And that means trikes!
Camila's trike has a handle that the adult can use to steer and assist, but Camila always wants to "pedal" so we took the handle off.

She seems ok with it! ;-)

Liv is getting better and better at peddling and steering simultaneously!

Biking is still a lot of exploration and practice, but rewarding too!

Smily Face Pizza

Liv got her new copy of Highlights "High Five" magazine this week.
And Funny-Face Pizza is this months "Cook It"

I'm pretty proud of myself for 1- taking pictures! 2- getting Liv (enthusiastically) through every step of this recipe: reading it, planning it, shopping for it, (she helped pick out the red pepper and olives), prepping the ingredients (not totally, but some... she helped make the sauce, cut the dough circles, and counted out the noses), but building was the best part!

 mmm... Soooo good!

Run, Run, Zzzzz

The other night we experienced that just-before-bed-time burst-of-energy
and the girls took off running. Or Livvie did, and Camila tried to keep up.

Success!
Sleepy kiddos!

Naked Buck?

We went out for a walk around the house this morning
and holy cow! Look what we found!!

They must have been itchy or something, because you can see where he stuck one of the "prongs" into the dirt and pushed.

So cool! I've never found shed antlers!

A little gross... but still pretty dang cool!

(I wish I did have a picture of a deer running around with one antler...
I bet he looks pretty silly!)

In other exciting news:

Our friends the Coffees have a brand new bean this morning! Kate delivered a healthy baby boy.

from her facebook page:  "James Robert Coffee was born at 3:29 a.m. this morning (1-13-11)! He weighs 8lbs, 3.2. ounces and 21 inches long! :)"

New Toy

Here's a sweet video of the kids playing together.
I had to crop out some cute stuff to make it more manageable here. sigh.

I love days like this when they find a way to play together! I'm sure we'll see more and more of them as Camila becomes more competent. And later on, who knows but its sweet now...

(Late) Christmas Hits

Very late (sorry) and very few (again, sorry)
but here are a couple pictures of early Christmas morning and the girls' first presents

Can you believe this kitchen?!
Santa out did himself! The phone was (still is) the biggest hit!
Both our kids love the play kitchen and so do their friends!

oh yeah! Milli has wheels! Again, a big hit with both girls.
Liv tears around in the thing shouting. "I'm Officer Livvie!" and then proceeds to direct traffic (me) around the kitchen. awesome.

What do you have in there, kiddo?
